Yvette Asare, WopeCar’s Business Development & Sales Lead, believes that business development is more than just deals and numbers. It’s about building strong relationships and driving growth. Her role focuses on creating value, expanding partnerships, and delivering tailored solutions that meet client needs in the competitive mobility space

I came in with the focus to expand our reach and strengthen our partnerships,” she says. “Every day has been a mix of learning, unlearning, and execution, which I absolutely enjoy.”

Yvette's approach is deeply personalised in her role as Business Development & Sales Manager. She doesn’t believe in a one-size-fits-all strategy. Before she pitches a solution, she takes time to understand a client’s pain points; what isn’t working and what could make their operations smoother.

“It’s important to show up consistently, not just when you’re selling something,” she adds. “Sometimes, just checking in can go a long way. And being transparent about your business model builds trust.”

But the work doesn’t come without its challenges. One of the biggest hurdles she faces is pricing, particularly in markets where competitors offer lower rates.

It’s tough when clients compare only based on cost without looking at service quality or reliability. So I focus on communicating value; what you really get with WopeCar. That’s convenience, flexibility, and a great customer experience,” she explains.

Another common challenge is leads that go cold.

It can be mentally exhausting,” she admits.

But I’ve learned not to take it personally. I pace myself, stay consistent with follow-ups, and trust that persistence pays off. Even if it’s slow, nurturing relationships makes a difference.”

What keeps her going is the progress. For Yvette, growth isn’t just about numbers.

I find motivation in watching ideas I’ve pitched come to life. Seeing a hesitant client become a loyal partner. That’s everything. And honestly, I’m passionate about what WopeCar stands for. We’re not just renting cars, we’re giving people flexibility and convenience.

One of the most rewarding moments for her is hearing feedback like: “You made the whole process so easy.” It’s a reminder that the work is making an impact.

When a client refers someone else because of the experience they had, it feels like a big win,” she says.

Looking ahead, Yvette sees the future of business development in the car rental space as digital, flexible, and rooted in partnerships.

Clients want seamless service, tailored packages, and real-time convenience. At WopeCar, we’re focused on delivering a complete experience, not just a car.

When she’s not chasing growth targets or meeting clients, Yvette unwinds by staying active.

I love sports, going to events, meeting new people. Music also helps me recharge. And honestly, just spending time with my people. Those simple moments do a lot.

To anyone considering a career in business development or sales, her advice is clear:

Be resilient. This path has highs and lows, and it’s easy to get discouraged. But if you stay consistent, build real relationships, and keep learning, you’ll find your rhythm. And most importantly, believe in what you’re selling.
